Emcee Singapore - The Grand Opening of Our Joyous Vesak 2025 was a vibrant celebration held on 10 May 2025 (Saturday) at the open field next to Serangoon MRT, marking the start of a three-day festival honouring Shakyamuni Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana. Singapore Emcee Ivan skillfully guided the day’s proceedings, ensuring a seamless flow of events while engaging the audience with heartfelt commentary. The event was graced by distinguished VIPs, including Mr Seah Kian Peng, Speaker of Parliament and Adviser to Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC Grassroots Organisations, and Ms Denise Phua, Mayor of Central Singapore District and MP for Jalan Besar GRC, who were warmly welcomed by the temple’s leadership, including SinghaThekchen Namdrol Rinpoche (Spiritual Director) and Ms Joanne Hau (Chairman).

Emcee Ivan set the tone early in the morning as volunteers gathered at 7:30 AM for auspicious prayers, followed by the arrival of the Sangha and a symbolic lion dance performance paying respect to the Giant Thangka. The highlight of the morning was the Grand Opening Ceremony at 9:30 AM, where emcee Ivan introduced the procession of VIPs, Rinpoche, and temple leaders onto the main stage. The ceremony featured inspiring speeches by Rinpoche, Mr Seah, and Ms Denise Phua, each emphasizing the significance of Vesak and its alignment with Singapore’s 60th anniversary (SG60). Emcee Ivan then invited attendees to witness the unveiling of the Giant Wish-fulfilling Thangka, a breathtaking moment accompanied by Tibetan prayers and pop poppers.

The festivities continued with lively performances, including lion and dragon dances, while emcee Ivan facilitated a VIP tour of the tentage and transitions between activities. The afternoon shifted focus to spiritual observances, with the Grand Vairocana Puja for SG60, where emcee Audrey and Gene took over, encouraging participation in prayers for national prosperity. As evening fell, emcee Ivan returned to host the Animal Blessing Ceremony, a heartwarming segment where pets received blessings from the Sangha, aligning with the event’s theme of compassion for all beings.

Throughout the day, emcees played a pivotal role in bridging the sacred and celebratory elements of Vesak, from solemn rituals to communal joy. The event successfully blended tradition with modernity, offering something for everyone—devotees, families, and even furry friends—while honoring Singapore’s multicultural harmony. The Grand Opening set a high standard for the remaining days of Our Joyous Vesak, leaving attendees uplifted and eager for more.
