Emcee Ivan Hosts FPAS Xcel 2026 at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore!

On 6 October 2026, I had the privilege of hosting FPAS Xcel 2026, a prestigious awards ceremony and gala dinner organised by the Financial Planning Association of Singapore (FPAS) at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore.

The black-tie event brought together financial planning professionals, industry leaders, award recipients, graduates and corporate partners for an evening of recognition, professional achievement and meaningful connections.

As a professional emcee in Singapore, it was a pleasure to be part of an occasion that celebrated not only individual accomplishments but also the dedication and standards that shape Singapore's financial planning profession.

Celebrating Excellence at FPAS Xcel 2026

FPAS Xcel 2026 marked the return of the FPAS Awards with a refreshed approach to recognising outstanding financial planning professionals.

The 2026 awards introduced a broader recognition framework, moving beyond the previous competition-based format to celebrate more Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professionals for their achievements, leadership and professional contributions.

The Financial Planning Association of Singapore plays an important role in advancing professional standards, ethical practices, certification and continuing development within the financial planning industry.

For professionals who help individuals and families make important financial decisions, maintaining competence, integrity and trust is essential.

The evening provided an opportunity to recognise those who demonstrated these values through their work and contributions to the profession.

Welcoming Distinguished FPAS Leaders and Speakers

The formal programme began with an opening address by Ms Neo Ley Lee, FPAS Awards Chairperson, followed by a presidential address from Dr Ben Fok, President of the Financial Planning Association of Singapore.

As the event emcee, I introduced the distinguished speakers and guided the transitions between the opening addresses and subsequent programme segments.

Guests also watched a special congratulatory video message from the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB), connecting the celebration in Singapore with the wider international financial planning community.

For an event involving senior association representatives, industry leaders and distinguished guests, accurate introductions and respectful stage protocol were particularly important.

These are responsibilities I value when hosting formal corporate events and professional association functions.

Recognising Outstanding Financial Planning Professionals

One of the evening's main highlights was the FPAS Awards Presentation Ceremony.

The awards recognised professional excellence and achievement across six levels:

  • Distinguished Leader Award

  • Emerging Leader Award

  • Platinum Award

  • Gold Award

  • Silver Award

  • Bronze Award

The Distinguished Leader and Emerging Leader Awards were presented by Dr Ben Fok, FPAS President.

Ms Neo Ley Lee, FPAS Awards Chairperson, presented the Platinum Awards, while Ms Lisa Lee, FPAS Vice President, presented the Gold Awards.

Mr Sim Boon Wah, FPAS Honorary Treasurer, presented the Silver and Bronze Awards.

As the awards ceremony emcee, my responsibilities included announcing award recipients, introducing presenters and inviting recipients on stage to receive their honours.

An awards presentation involves much more than reading names from a programme. Each recipient deserves a moment of recognition, while the overall ceremony needs to maintain its pace, dignity and celebratory atmosphere.

It was rewarding to help guide these moments as the financial planning community recognised its outstanding professionals.

Celebrating World Financial Planning Day

FPAS Xcel 2026 also commemorated the 10th annual World Financial Planning Day, a global initiative of the Financial Planning Standards Board observed on 7 October 2026.

The occasion highlighted the importance of financial literacy, professional advice and long-term financial well-being.

A particularly meaningful segment featured Associate Professor Charlene Chen, who delivered a presentation titled “Longer Lives, More Complex Choices: The Human Side of Financial Planning.”

With a background in psychology and a PhD in Marketing from Columbia University, Associate Professor Chen brought a human perspective to financial decision-making.

Her presentation explored the influence of behaviour, emotions, personal aspirations and psychological factors on the financial choices people make.

I introduced Associate Professor Chen and facilitated the programme transition into the interactive question-and-answer session.

This segment offered a different dimension to the evening, moving from formal recognition to an educational discussion relevant to financial planning professionals.

For a corporate emcee, adapting appropriately to different programme formats is an important part of maintaining a coherent event experience.

FPAS Convocation 2026: Recognising Professional Milestones

Another significant part of the celebration was the FPAS Convocation 2026 Ceremony.

The convocation recognised graduates who had achieved professional certification milestones through the following programmes:

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP)

  • Associate Wealth Planner (AWP)

  • Associate Financial Planner (AFP)

These qualifications represented considerable commitment to professional learning and development.

During the ceremony, I welcomed graduates on stage and coordinated the presentation proceedings.

Dr Ben Fok presented the CFP graduate scrolls, while Ms Lisa Lee was invited to present the AWP graduate scrolls.

For the graduates, it was an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments alongside colleagues and fellow professionals.

For me as the emcee, it was another reminder that a well-hosted formal ceremony should allow the people being recognised to remain the centre of attention.

An Elegant Gala Dinner at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore

Beyond the awards and convocation, FPAS Xcel 2026 was also an occasion for members of Singapore's financial planning community to reconnect and celebrate together.

The gala dinner at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore provided a welcoming setting for professional networking and shared appreciation.

The programme included sponsor recognition and a lucky draw, adding lighter moments to the evening's formal proceedings.

The celebration was supported by industry sponsors and partners, including Finexis Advisory Pte Ltd, Simplywills Pte Ltd, The Ennegram Academy and Finerty Academy as Platinum Sponsors.

Gold Sponsors included PhillipCapital, Simply Health Hub Group and Tax Academy of Singapore, while GoalsMapper Pte Ltd and iFast Financial Pte Ltd supported the event as Silver Sponsors.

As the gala dinner emcee, I introduced the sponsor appreciation segment and engaged guests during the lucky draw.

Balancing the formal nature of an awards ceremony with the warmth of a celebratory dinner was an important part of the hosting experience.

My Experience as the Corporate Emcee for FPAS Xcel 2026

Hosting FPAS Xcel 2026 was a meaningful opportunity to bring together several aspects of professional corporate emceeing.

Throughout the programme, my responsibilities included welcoming distinguished speakers, introducing award presenters, announcing recipients, facilitating convocation proceedings and guiding transitions between different event segments.

Each part of the evening called for a slightly different approach.

The opening addresses required a formal and respectful tone. The awards ceremony demanded careful attention to names, designations and presentation sequences. The convocation focused on the achievements of graduates, while the gala dinner and lucky draw created opportunities for more relaxed audience engagement.

For organisations looking for a professional emcee in Singapore, these are some of the practical considerations involved in choosing a host for an important corporate occasion.

A corporate event emcee needs to understand the purpose of the programme, communicate clearly, respect the significance of formal proceedings and remain attentive to the audience throughout the event.

FPAS Xcel 2026 brought these responsibilities together in one memorable evening.

A Meaningful Conclusion to FPAS Xcel 2026

The celebration concluded with a closing address by Mr Galen Woo, Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Planning Association of Singapore.

I also had the opportunity to thank the distinguished guests, award recipients, graduates, speakers, sponsors and organising committee for their participation and contributions.

FPAS Xcel 2026 was ultimately about recognising people who had invested in professional excellence and contributed to the continued development of financial planning in Singapore.

It was a privilege to serve as the event emcee and be part of this celebration at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore.
