The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and pride as the emcee, Ivan, welcomed a distinguished gathering of government leaders, agency partners, and community members to the opening ceremony. This event was not just a ribbon-cutting; it was a celebration of a bold vision to bring essential government services closer to the heartlands, making life genuinely easier for residents. The celebration marked the successful expansion of the ServiceSG network, reaffirming a commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for every citizen in Ang Mo Kio and beyond.

For those unfamiliar, a ServiceSG Centre is designed as a one-stop hub where residents can access close to 600 frequently used government services from over 25 different agencies, all under one roof. As the emcee, Ivan, explained during the ceremony, these centres eliminate the need for citizens to navigate multiple offices or complex online portals alone. Instead, friendly officers are on hand to assist with everything from applying for financial schemes to registering for national programmes, saving valuable time and effort for families, seniors, and working adults alike. The new Ang Mo Kio centre stands as a testament to seamless, integrated public service, a fact that the emcee highlighted as a key reason for the community’s excitement.

The ceremony was graced by the esteemed Guest of Honour, Ms Jasmin Lau, Minister of State for the Ministry of Digital Development and Information, and the Ministry of Education. Joining her were Advisers Mr Victor Lye, Mr Henry Kwek, and Mr Yip Hon Weng, alongside Ms Lim Sze Ling, Chief Executive Officer of ServiceSG. In his welcome address, the emcee, Ivan, set a warm and appreciative tone, acknowledging the immense behind-the-scenes collaboration that made the centre a reality. The celebration served to thank these cross-agency teams and to publicly showcase how their hard work is already benefiting the community, a sentiment echoed by the Guest of Honour in her inspiring opening address, which the emcee introduced with great enthusiasm.

Following the speeches, the emcee, Ivan, skillfully guided everyone to the official launch moment. Ms Jasmin Lau was invited to press the ceremonial button, triggering a vibrant on-screen countdown that officially declared the centre open to applause. To commemorate this achievement, the emcee then organized a group photo, inviting key senior leaders to the forefront, including Ms Teoh Zsin Woon, Permanent Secretary from MCCY; Mr Chng Kai Fong, Permanent Secretary from MDDI; Mr Thomas Seow, DCEO & Chief Customer Experience Officer from HDB; Mr Esa Masood, Deputy Secretary from MSF; Ms Sivakami D/O Gopalakrishnan, Deputy CEO from e2i; Ms Joanna Lam, Cluster Director from IMDA; Mr Azzli Bin Jamain, Managing Director from Lifelong Learning Singapore; and Ms Lee Mui Ling, COO of ServiceSG. Under the emcee’s direction, the group photo perfectly captured the spirit of unity and partnership that defines the ServiceSG mission.

To conclude the meaningful celebration, the emcee, Ivan, invited the Guest of Honour, Advisers, and senior management to a guided tour of the new facilities, led by Centre Head Ms Tan Chin Ying. The tour allowed VIPs to see firsthand how the centre will serve the community, followed by a visit to the neighbouring e2i career centre. As the event drew to a close, the emcee extended a final thank you to all guests and contributors, reinforcing that the new ServiceSG Centre in Ang Mo Kio is ready and eager to serve.
