Emcee - The emcee Ivan warmly welcomed residents and guests to the public consultation and exhibition for the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme (NRP) at St George's Lane. This event was organised by Jalan Besar Town Council to celebrate the start of a community‑led upgrading initiative, aiming to gather the necessary support from at least 75 percent of eligible flat owners so that the proposed improvements—including a new linkway, badminton court, three‑generation fitness corner, and upgraded drop‑off porch—can proceed fully funded by the Government. As the managing body for public housing estates in the area, Jalan Besar Town Council oversees daily estate maintenance, coordinates improvement projects like the NRP, and fosters resident engagement to create safer and more accessible living environments, all of which the emcee highlighted as key drivers for hosting this event.

The emcee Ivan proudly announced that Dr Wan Rizal, Member of Parliament for Jalan Besar Group Representation Constituency, joined the event to show support for the NRP and to encourage residents to participate in the voting process. Dr Wan Rizal’s presence underscored the Town Council’s commitment to working closely with grassroots leaders and government agencies, and emcee Ivan noted that his active involvement helped energise the community to come forward and have their say.

Throughout the day, emcee Ivan guided attendees through the various activities and submission procedures. Residents enjoyed live food stations, arcade games, glitter tattoos, and balloon sculptures, while those submitting their Feedback Form (found on page 7 of the NRP booklet) received a souvenir—one per eligible Singapore citizen household, subject to NRIC verification. The emcee Ivan also reminded everyone about the lucky draw, adding a festive touch to the consultation, and thanked residents for their participation, emphasising that every vote brings the neighbourhood one step closer to renewal.
