SG Science Fest 2026 took place from 8 to 10 August 2026 at Science Centre Singapore, bringing families, children and science enthusiasts together for a three-day celebration of science, discovery and exploration during the National Day long weekend. Hosted at Science Centre Singapore, the festival transformed the venue into an ocean-themed adventure filled with interactive activities, live science shows, waterplay experiences, hands-on experiments and family-friendly programmes. The event was hosted by emcee Singapore Ivan, who helped keep the atmosphere lively and engaging throughout the festival.
SG Science Fest 2026 was especially meaningful as Science Centre Singapore used the National Day long weekend as an opportunity to bring science closer to the public in a fun and accessible way. The festival theme, “Make a Splash. Make a Discovery,” centred strongly on the ocean, encouraging visitors to learn more about marine science, conservation and the relationship between everyday actions and the environment. For emcee Singapore Ivan, the event provided plenty of opportunities to connect with visitors as they moved between educational activities, exciting games and live performances.
The festival also reflected what Science Centre Singapore does best: making science, technology, engineering and mathematics more engaging through exhibitions, educational programmes and events. One of the major highlights was the ocean-focused programme, which included ONE Ocean, the immersive mystery experience “Shipwrecked: Uncover the Mystery,” Discovering DNA, Young Marine Biologist activities and a range of Ocean Science Activities. Visitors could investigate marine ecosystems, learn about coral restoration, explore buoyancy and corrosion, discover how DNA influences marine life and take part in activities inspired by real-world scientific research. Emcee Singapore Ivan added to the festive atmosphere by guiding audiences and helping visitors stay connected with the different experiences happening around Science Centre Singapore.
The festival also offered plenty of action and entertainment beyond the galleries. Visitors could take part in Splash Battle and What Time Is It, Mr Shark?, two water-based experiences designed to combine physical play with a science festival atmosphere. The Mr Shark activity, held at the Eco Garden, was inspired by the familiar playground game and added a Singapore twist with water-based gameplay, while Splash Battle gave participants the chance to compete in an energetic water challenge. Emcee Singapore Ivan helped create the upbeat event environment as families moved between these outdoor experiences and the other festival activities.
Another crowd favourite was the “Robot’s Bytes to Bites” science show, which brought together local hawker culture, robotics, artificial intelligence and spectacular science demonstrations. The story followed Ah Bee, a seasoned hawker, and Wok-E, a robot chef using data and AI to develop new hawker dishes. The festival also featured special Omni-Theatre programming, including “Earth: Our Only Home,” which explored the importance of the oceans and featured a live musical performance. Emcee Singapore Ivan complemented these experiences by keeping the audience engaged and adding an energetic stage presence to the overall festival programme.
SG Science Fest 2026 also celebrated collaboration within Singapore’s science community. A key programme was Meet a Scientist by the Singapore National Academy of Science (SNAS), which marked SNAS’ 50th anniversary in 2026. Visitors had opportunities to meet scientists, attend interactive talks and discover the work taking place across different scientific disciplines. The programme included topics such as resilient oceans, regeneration, stem cells, microscopy and science experiments using everyday mobile phones. The event also created a festive community atmosphere with The Bazaar @ Marquee, Food Street and Kampung Corner, where visitors could enjoy food, partner booths, performances and familiar Singapore childhood games.
