Emcee Singapore - The One Punggol Chinese New Year Light-Up 2026 was held in a warm and festive atmosphere, bringing residents together to celebrate the arrival of the Lunar New Year as one community. Emcee Singapore welcomed guests to the event and introduced One Punggol as a vibrant community hub, setting the tone for an evening centred on togetherness, tradition and renewal as families gathered to usher in the festive season.
As the programme commenced, Emcee Singapore guided the audience through a series of cultural performances, beginning with elegant gu zheng and pipa melodies that created a calm and reflective ambience. This was followed by dynamic musical and dance presentations by Sheng Hong Arts, as well as a Chinese flute performance, all of which showcased the richness of Chinese cultural heritage while allowing residents to enjoy the festivities in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
The evening reached a significant moment when Emcee Singapore welcomed the Advisers to Punggol Grassroots Organisations, led by Mr Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, alongside Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment and Senior Minister of State for Education, Ms Sun Xueling, Senior Minister of State for Transport and Senior Minister of State for National Development, Ms Yeo Wan Ling, Adviser to Punggol GRC, and Mr Ahmad Firdaus Daud, Second Adviser to Punggol GRC. Their presence underscored the importance of community bonding and shared celebrations during the festive period.
A key highlight of the evening was the Chinese New Year Light-Up ceremony, during which Emcee Singapore invited the advisers to activate the light installation together. The illumination of the festive centrepiece, lion, and dragon decorations symbolised unity, renewal, and shared hopes for the Year of the Fire Horse, drawing enthusiastic applause from the crowd as the community welcomed the new year together.
Following the light-up, Emcee Singapore led the audience into the celebratory segments of the night, including the traditional lion dance Cai Qing and the vibrant dragon dance performance. These segments captivated attendees with their energy and symbolism, representing prosperity, strength, and collective harmony as the dragon weaved through the crowd and led guests further into the festivities.
The programme continued with captivating Chinese opera and face-changing performances, which highlighted the richness of traditional performing arts and drew admiration from both young and old. Emcee Singapore maintained a smooth flow throughout the evening, providing context for each performance and ensuring that guests remained engaged and immersed in the cultural celebrations.
The event concluded with a high-energy lion dance featuring pole-jumping, marking a powerful and auspicious end to the night. Emcee Singapore closed the programme by thanking residents, community partners, and guests for celebrating together at One Punggol, and extended warm wishes for a joyful, healthy, and prosperous Lunar New Year, reinforcing One Punggol’s role as a heart of community life and festive celebration.
