Emcee Singapore - The Young Mariners' Networking – Maritime Insights Forum, co-organized by the Singapore Maritime Officers' Union (SMOU) and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), was a vibrant event held on 14 May 2025 at the Lifelong Learning Institute Event Hall 1-2. The emcee ensured the event ran smoothly, welcoming participants and setting the tone for an afternoon filled with insightful discussions and networking opportunities.

The emcee kicked off the forum by introducing the first speaker, Ms Yasmin Abdeen, an experienced educator and leadership coach, who conducted an engaging workshop titled "Navigating Connections: Building a Strong Network at Sea." Her session highlighted the importance of networking for seafarers, both on board and on shore, and the emcee kept the audience engaged with timely transitions. Following this, Mr David Lee, Deputy Director of Corporate Communications & Development and MaritimeONE Connect Office of SMF, shared valuable insights on "Discover Careers in the Maritime Sector," with the emcee facilitating an interactive Q&A and quiz session featuring maritime-themed prizes.

The emcee then introduced Mr Noor Hafiz, Senior Marine Surveyor (Ship Regulatory, Design and Standards) of MPA, who delved into the "Singapore Registered Ship (SRS) Decarbonisation Journey." His presentation sparked thoughtful questions about green shipping and career opportunities, which the emcee expertly managed. After a brief stretching break, the emcee welcomed Ms Yin Jinghong, a 4th Engineer and SMOU member, who shared her personal experiences in a "Seafaring Career" session. The emcee guided the audience through another lively Q&A and quiz, further enriching the participants' understanding of maritime roles.

As the forum concluded, the emcee orchestrated the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the speakers, with Ms Siti Nellisa, SMOU Vice-President, and Mr Sasa Wong, Senior Manager (Seafarers Policy, Development & Welfare) from MPA, honoring the speakers with Raffles Lighthouse Lego sets. The emcee then coordinated a group photo before transitioning to the networking dinner, where participants enjoyed booth activities, including VR engine room simulations and career exploration stalls.

Throughout the evening, the emcee encouraged attendees to network and engage with industry professionals, creating a lively and interactive atmosphere. The event concluded at 8:30 PM, leaving participants inspired and better connected within the maritime community.
