Emcee - The 7th Copernicus Olympiad Global Round culminated in a spectacular Awards Ceremony on June 26, 2026, at the prestigious Stephen Riady Auditorium @NTUC in Singapore. The air was electric with excitement as the emcee, Shirleen, opened the ceremony by welcoming a host of distinguished guests. The event was graced by the presence of Her Excellency Uyanga Ganbold, Ambassador of Mongolia to the Republic of Singapore, along with Madam Maria Isabel Ferramenta Silva, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Vietnam, Mr. Fernando Gallardo, Head of the Economic and Consular Section at the Embassy of Peru in Singapore, and Madam Aigerim Raissova, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Singapore. As the emcee highlighted, their attendance underscored the importance of international cooperation in fostering the next generation of young scholars.
This celebration was the pinnacle of the Copernicus Olympiad's mission to inspire and recognize academic excellence. As the emcee explained, the Copernicus Olympiad is a globally renowned international academic competition founded in 2020 by a team of passionate educators in Houston, Texas. It provides a platform for students from 3rd to 12th grade to compete in challenging disciplines such as Mathematics, Natural Science, Physics and Astronomy, and Entrepreneurship. The name honors the revolutionary astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, reflecting the organization's goal to encourage students to think differently and challenge conventional wisdom. The Global Round in Singapore brought together bright young minds from over 50 countries, who had already proven their merit by advancing past preliminary rounds, as the emcee proudly reminded the audience.
The emcee guided the audience through the medal ceremonies, which were a testament to the hard work and determination of the participants. The bronze medals were presented by Madam Maria Isabel Ferramenta Silva, followed by the silver medals presented by Mr. Fernando Gallardo. The gold medal ceremony was a particularly prestigious moment, with Her Excellency Uyanga Ganbold, Ambassador of Mongolia, taking the stage to present the awards to the top performers. The emcee emphasized that these medals represent more than just academic success; they symbolize courage, curiosity, and the perseverance to excel on a global stage.
Beyond the medal presentations, the ceremony was a celebration of the entire community that makes the Olympiad possible. A key moment, as noted by the emcee, was the recognition of the supervisors and teachers. Madam Aigerim Raissova and the Project Manager, Ms. Annabelle Alipui, were invited to present Certificates of Appreciation to these dedicated educators, acknowledging their crucial role in mentoring and inspiring the students. The emcee further highlighted the importance of these behind-the-scenes heroes by welcoming the entire Copernicus Olympiad team to the stage, including the Head of Academics, Ms. Surbhi Sardana, the Communications Manager, and the creative minds behind the event's visual identity.
The ceremony reached its peak of excitement with the announcement of the Absolute Winners. As the emcee announced the top three finishers in each of the five categories, the hall erupted in applause for these exceptional students who achieved the highest scores in their disciplines. The emcee then called for a standing ovation to honor all the medalists, celebrating their remarkable achievements. The event was a resounding success, perfectly capturing the spirit of the Copernicus Olympiad—a celebration of knowledge, international friendship, and the bright future of these young scholars. As the emcee concluded with closing remarks, she thanked everyone for being part of the Copernicus Olympiad family and wished them safe travels, leaving everyone with the inspiring message that the friendships and memories made in Singapore would last a lifetime.
