Emcee - On 25th November 2023, Our Tampines Hub came alive with colour, creativity, and the spirit of inclusion as the Shaping Hearts Festival 2023 unfolded. Now in its fifth year, this annual inclusive arts festival, organised by the North East Community Development Council (CDC), has grown into Singapore's largest celebration of artists with disabilities, showcasing their incredible talents through visual art, dance, and music performances.

The festival was graced by Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who delivered an inspiring address celebrating the achievements of persons with disabilities and reaffirming Singapore's commitment to building a more inclusive society under the Enabling Masterplan 2030 . His presence underscored the importance of events like Shaping Hearts in challenging perceptions and rallying the community to support those who are sometimes overlooked.

A highlight of the festival was the performance by The Very Inclusive Band (VIB) from Faith Music School.  Ivan had the privilege of introducing this talented group to the stage, creating an atmosphere of anticipation and warmth before they began their set. The band's performance was a testament to the power of music to transcend barriers and bring people together in celebration of diversity and talent.

Throughout their time on stage, Emcee Singapore Ivan engaged with the band members, introducing them by name and interviewing them about their musical journeys. These moments of connection allowed the audience to see not just the performers, but the individuals behind the music—their passion, their dedication, and their joy in sharing their gifts with the community.

The Shaping Hearts Festival 2023 was more than just a performance—it was a reminder that when we open our hearts and minds, we create a society where everyone, regardless of ability, can live with dignity and contribute meaningfully to our shared future . For Emcee Ivan, being part of this meaningful festival and spending time with such talented musicians was an absolute pleasure and an honour.
